Who?
After the mysterious disappearance of the previous author, the Journal is found by a young boy called Dipper. He introduces himself as a brother of a twin sister who is taking a Summer break at their great granduncle's tourist attraction called the Mystery Shack. The attraction is located in Oregon, Gravity Falls. While their 'grunkle' (what they say instead of great uncle) Stan Pines is busy at the shack, the two siblings go on very interesting adventures, which Dipper documents in the Journal.

Story
During his adventures, Dipper and his sister Mable make multiple friends which help them more than once. These include Soos, which is one of the two employees at the mystery shack. He's very friendly, straightforward, humorous, but can be very often outwitted due to his lack of intelligence. The other is Wendy, which is the second employee working at the mystery shack. She's incredibly brave and strong but friendly towards her friends. Throughout the Journal's duration, the pack of friends gets into some very deep trouble more than once. For the first few pages of Dipper's journal, we're introduced to characters which he and Mable dealt with. These include gnomes, video game characters, dinosaurs, time-travellers, and much more. However, during one of their misadventures, the twins encounter Bill Cypher, which warns them of impending doom. Later, we get some more descriptions of inexplicable creatures, before we're told that the FBI has shown up by the mystery shack, and accuses Stan of theft of radioactive materials. He denies it but gets arrested anyway. In the meantime, Dipper, Mable, and Soos discover a hidden room at the mystery shack, which leads them to the gateway between the two dimensions. What's worse, is that it's only a few seconds away from activating. Dipper tries to shut it down but is stopped by Stan, which has somehow escaped from the FBI interrogation room. He convinces the twins to let it activate, and in doing so, creates an explosion of bright light.

What Happened?
After the explosion, the portal turned off, and rubble started to fall on everybody. Then, out of the shadows, a tall, human-like figure appears. While everyone is awestruck, Stan stands up and says:
"The author of the Journals. The man who owns the mystery shack. The scientist responsible for finding all the wonders of Gravity Falls".
"My Brother".
Overview
After the mysterious disappearance of the author, his Journal was recovered by a pre-teen boy during his Summer at Gravity Falls. During the break and thanks to the mysterious novel, Dipper and his sister Mable along with their friends discover and encounter many mystical and often horrifying creatures. At one point, they discover Bill Cypher, a magical being which was the reason the author became insane. Later, the FBI shows up, and arrest Stanford for stealing illegal radioactive substances. Thanks to this knowledge, Dipper and Mable try to find out what he needed it for, and in doing so discover another layer to their home, which has the author's portal built in. They try to shut it down, but ultimately decide to trust their great uncle, and are met with an explosion of massive proportions.
And now, out of the busted up gateway appears a person. Someone human. Someone the twins have been trying to find.
